(paraphrased to perhaps save the writer embarassment) Wouldn’t it be bitchin’ if the Doctor were to have another Time Lord for a companion, even though he’s the last of his kind? And I’ve only seen like none of the classic series because Ten-inch isn’t in them. So there.
It’s this sort of attitude that really makes me loathe newbie fans sometimes. But, as very few people still active in the fandom have quite the history in fandom I do, it’s no surprise I get curmudgeonly.

New year, new hope, yeah? Here’s what really got my blood boiling in 2006 in the Doctor Who milieu:
1) Fans trying to black-and-white the sitch, whether it be Old School vs. New School, Nine Vs. Ten, Rose vs. Everyone Else, or Torchwood vs. Quality Programming.
2)Â Clueless people who stumble onto a piece of casting/plot/whatever information several months after the info first came out and breathlessly spam LiveJournal communities with their Important Piece of News.
3) anon hate communities– it’s like overhearing girls gossip in a high school bathroom.
4) People who get so wrapped up in their own opinions who aren’t able to step back and realise that, at the end of the day, it’s just a television show. It’s not real life! Really! So what if it’s not going the way you want it to? It’s not the end of the world. (Although, really, that was a cracking good episode, wasn’t it?)
5) Newbies (especially shipper newbies) who come barging into several communities at once saying they only just discovered Doctor Who and are thus ready to drool (or slash-and-drool) all over the place. (Yes, I imagine I would do the same were I a teenager and just discovering DW– heck, I certainly did the equivelent back in the day! But, geez, it’s so tiresome to witness over and over and over again.)
6) Rose batshippers. Pleeeze. Take your meds and calm down. The sun doesn’t shine out of her arse, no matter how much you want it to.
7) RTD’s Rose obsessiveness. As much as he keeps trying to declare contextually that Rose was the love of the Doctor’s lives, I’m not buying it. Sarah ranks much higher (as witnessed by “School Reunion”); so does Jo, Nyssa, and most especially Romana.
Certain posters in the spoiler sections of OG who declare many posts “not spoilers” because it involves speculation. *sigh* Just the facts, ma’am.
And there you have it. (Although I certainly reserve the right to come back in here later and add to it!)
