See? See? Told ya!

The latest addition to the Official BBC site– the ComicMaker– isn’t accessable to us Jennie Foreigners. I knew they couldn’t sanction making all the Doctor Who goodness available to those of us who can’t pay the licensing fee! Bastards.

In other news, it seems that, from preliminary pre-cut comments over on LJ, that “Evolution of the Daleks” is sucking big-time. *sigh* I’ll find out for sure on Monday.

First Impressions: Daleks Take Manhattan

first-impressions-daleks-take-manhattan

“They’ll take Manhattan, Staten Island, too…” They also will take the cake.

Fun episode, but, like “Gridlock,” requires disconnecting the logic circuits first. Perhaps moreso: My Viewing Party Host and I found ourselves MSTK3ing it as we watched it. Bad, for a first viewing.

Come on in, the ranting’s fine.

Gender and DW Fandom

With the third series going on in the U.K., and the first series finally coming home to roost on U.S. PBS stations, I find myself caught up in nostalgia about the fandom. And, in a way, I long for the salad days of the ’80’s, because women were not only treated with respect, but were actually in charge of things. These days, females are marginalized in the fandom. And nowhere is that more apparent than at conventions.

He Really *Is* Back!

he-really-is-back

Oh, yes, indeed, I am well aware of Doctor Who being on its third series of the New School Version in the U.K., just as I am quite conscious of the first series having aired on BBC America and the first two series having aired on SciFi here in the States. I’m quite caught up on all the episodes, thank you very much.

For an Old School fan like me, though, the Doctor is really just returning this Sunday night at 10 p.m., when WTTW, the local PBS station, airs “Rose.”

And, yes, I’m about to wax nostalgic again! I did warn you that would happen you know.

GIP!

(aka Gratuitous Icon Post)

Right. Now that I’ve found an actual photo of Fonzie jumping a shark (I guess– I thought it was on his motorcycle and going over a tank– sillly moi), I am all prepared for the Big Reveal about Mr Saxon. Joy.

Violating Copyright Through The Ages

As I bopped back and forth every few hours from the Real World to Cyberspace waiting for my personal magic pixie delivery elves to make with a proper copy of “Smith and Jones,” I found myself reflecting back on how things have changed in the quarter century plus that I’ve been a Doctor Who fan. Before the Internest, there was tape trading, and before tape trading, well… conventions.

Go ahead, read on. You know you want to.

First Impressions: Gridlock

Well! Kitty Cuteness! Yay for Kitty Cuteness!

Also, good to know that no logic was harmed in the making of the episode. (But that’s because logic seemed to have the night off.)

But, I know you’re asking yourself…. what did I really think?
