Oh, it would be OH SO EASY to choose something dramatic, such as
He’s like fire and ice and rage. He’s like the night, and the storm in the heart of the sun. He’s ancient and forever. He burns at the centre of time and he can see the turn of the universe. And… he’s wonderful. (from Family of Blood)
(which I use with the pronoun modification as my biography on many sites)
For some people, small, beautiful events are what life is all about! (from Earthshock)
And it’s always tempting to choose a companion quote, such as,
I’m not an “old thing,” Harry! (which I’m not even sure is an actual Sarah quote, although we used it in S-A-V-E-W-H-O)
I’m Perpugilliam Brown, and I can yell just as loud as you can! (from Planet of Fire)
But, no, if I had to choose a quote that has really become a part of my life, it would be….
Adric! 337! (from The Keeper of Traken)
Oh, yeah, sure, seems boring enough, but it really became an obsessive catch phrase with we Federation types. Our 1st Doctor, Mark, lived in Racine, WI at the time, at exit 333. To get to his place, we had to go past exit 337. Naturally, every time we passed exit 337, we had to say “Adric! 337!” with the appropriate bad hand gestures.
Even to this day, saying the quote can bring a smile to many a Fed’s face. I’ve even corrupted my daughter into quoting “337!’ at random, even though she hasn’t seen the episode yet. And, yes, I tried the 337 Cabernet just because of the name! (Quite tasty, if you like Cabs, you should totally check it out.) The Child and I giggle whenever we realize the time is 3:37. (And, yes, we notice this, if only ’cause we’re judging whether to take the long way home or not based on the time. We live across the street from a school that gets out at 3:35, you see…)
So, yeah, “Adric! 337!” rules in my house.
